SPICER RESERVOIR

Located 8 miles south of Hwy 4 above Big Meadows Campground, this Photo of Spicer reserviorreservoir covers 2,000 acres at full pool. Good fishing in July and August from shore or small boats (Note: a 10 MPH speed limit is enforced on the main body of the reservoir with the eastern "arm" closed to motorized boating). Boat launch and facilities for family and group camping are also available.

Lake Alpine

Located approximately 28 miles above Arnold Ca, not far from Bear Valley Ca 180 acres with depths averaging 40 feet. Good for July and August fishing when trout are sluggish at lower elevations due to summer temperatures. Small boats are allowed, Photo of Lake Alpinecheck with Forest Service first. Good fishing both from the bank and trolling. The Lodge at Lake Alpine should be able to give you some helpful tips on preferred spots and bait.

MOSQUITO LAKES

Photo of Mosquito LakeOn Highway 4 approximately 36 miles above Arnold Ca, two small lakes are stocked regularly during the summer months.

MOKELUMNE RIVER

On Highway 4 approximately 15 miles past Lake Alpine at Hermit Valley. Good fishing early in season when water is high, camping available.

BEAVER CREEK

From Stanislaus River (above): Cross bridge on Boards Crossing Road, go Map of Calaveras Creeks and Riversapproximately 7 miles, follow signs, very good early season fishing, camping available.

GRISWOLD CREEK

Continue on from Beaver Creek (above) approximately 6 miles, good fishing downstream, camping available.

WHITE PINES LAKE

One mile from Arnold Ca at the edge of White Pines across from the Moose Lodge. Well stocked with Photo of White Pines LakeTrout, some Bass and Catfish. Picnic Area, Swimming Area, no motorized boats allowed. The lake is private but all can fish. Good place for kids to fish. No overnight camping or campfires allowed.

STANISLAUS RIVER & BEAVER CREEK- BIG TREES STATE PARK

Enter thru The Calaveras Big Trees State Park (The Image of Stanislaus Riverpark will charge you a nominal fee) approximately 3 miles above Arnold. Good road approximately 7 to 8 miles to the river. Heavily stocked, also heavily fished. (Exercise caution in early season when water is high!) Beaver Creek is in the South Grove of the park past the bridge, good fishing in early season when water is high in the main part of the river.

SOUTH-FORK MOKELUMNE RIVER

Go past White Pines Lake (above), make a right turn just after crossing creek (small fish in creek), stay on main logging road for approximately 8 to 10 miles. Fishing usually good in spring, rough walking away from crossing, some camping available.
